Women in Web Design
Having had several "surprise reactions" lately when callers discover that I am a "female web designer", I decided to dedicate a page in my website to women.
I resisted the urge to make it pink and pretty, which is what my research led me to, more times than I could believe, but, instead, to champion the plight of businesswomen who provide web design and graphic design services for a living.

Internet articles and bloggers seem divided when it comes to the supposed web design gender divide. Some believe it exists, some don't, and some really don't care.
In reality, I have definitely received more enquiries from women who were actively looking for a female web designer. Whether it was due to bad experiences with male dominated professions, I honestly don't know, but they all had one thing in common... they felt much happier and more confident dealing with another female.
Of course, my friendly approach and promise of not over-selling to them, or blinding them with technical, internet jargon may have helped win them over, but in all honesty, I treat all my clients with the respect they deserve. Afterall, they have entrusted me with their money and my income and reputation depends on that.
